Throwdown in O-Town returned to Ottawa for it's second edition and Ronin MMA had two fighters on the card once again.
James Mahony lost to Nick Creeper of MAS Thai Boxing when the fight had to be called in the second round due to blood.
Dan Narraway defeated Mitchell Fowler of MAS Thai Boxing by unanimous decision in a great match with both fighters showing great Muay Thai technique.

Nick Denis made a successfull defense of his King of the Cage Canadian Bantamweight Championship at King of the Cage Brawl in the Mall 3 in Edmonton.
Nick fought a very tough Josh Gallant and ended up winning in the second round by knockout!

With over 2000 competitors, the competition was top notch, highlighted by UFC sensation Frankie Edgar winning the Lightweight Advanced No-Gi division. Wade Shanley and Daryl Hartley made the trip down and brought back 2 medals.

Ronin MMA had another great run this weekend at NAGA Ohio 2007! We had 5 guys make the 11hr trek from Ottawa to Ohio and came back with 4 Golds (Samurai Swords) and 3 Silvers! With a team of only 5 guys we were able to capture 11th place in the team standings for No-Gi and an AMAZING 5th place in Gi!

The Contender is a series produced by world famous producer Mark Burnett (Survivor, The Apprentice, The Contender) that followed the lives of 16 boxers fighting to get their big shot. Now he has decided to do a Contender focusing on Muay Thai and Alain is one of only 16 Muay Thai fighters from around the world who has been selected to compete for the prize of becoming “The Contender”!

King of the Cage was once again back in Ottawa showcasing our local fighters. Ronin MMA had four fighters in the cage:
Terry Rea (170lbs) made his debut against Team Bruckmann MMA fighter Eric Muir losing a hard fought battle by tko in the second round.
Nick Denis (145lbs) once again impressed with his Muay Thai skills and heavy ground and pound attack stopping Chris Myra in the first round by tko.
Stephan Lamarche (170lbs) was in tough early against Eugene "Cujo" White but rallied back and pulled of a victory in the first round by rear naked choke after some brutal elbows from the mount.
Jay Bissonnette (205lbs) showed a lot of heart in his debut fighting a back and forth battle with John Cole ultimately losing by tko in the second round.
A big thank you to everyone on Team Ronin who sacrificed their time and bodies to help prepare the guys, your efforts are invaluable to the success of the team! Congratulations to all of the fighters and to KOTC for organizing another great night of mixed martial arts. |

Nick Denis fought a very experienced fighter from France and pulled off the armbar victory in the first round.
Stephan Lamarche fought an extremely tough Garret Venroy from team Franco-Behring and pulled off the unanimous decision victory thanks to his huge slams and ground and pound.

you all know Karim Byron is off in Japan representing the Ronin fighting
spirit on the international scene! Coming of a dominating victory in
his first MMA fight just 2 weeks ago, Karim is heading back into the

JAMIE HELMER, fought a very tough fighter with
14 MMA fights and 9 Professional Boxing fights. We are all very proud
of him, because after breaking his left hand in the first round, he
still fought hard and never gave up. Great fight and congratulations
on winning your first MMA fight!
CRAIG BROWN, what can I say about this guy. He is quickly becoming an
Ottawa fighting LEGEND! Whether he is in the ring or on the microphone
Craig always gets the job done. He fought a very talented fighter and
neutralized all his skills on every attempt. Craig trained very hard
for this fight and it payed off in the ring! Criag improves his undefeated
record to 3-0!
Congratulations to both fighters CRAIG and JAMIE and thank you to everybody
that put the time to help train them: Holding pads, moving the crush
mat around, bringing water, screaming, timing, etc, etc....

to all the competitors who competed at the Canadian ADCC Trials in Toronto.
Here are the pictures from the event and many of the Ronins won their
division. All the hard training paid off at this tournement and all
the Ronins had very difficult competiton, but still remained on top.

I wanted to thank Shawn Tompkins for hosting the event and for having
us on such an exciting card.
I would like to congratulate our fighter Alain Sylvester, who fought
three really exciting rounds with TKO Champ Mark Homnick, but who lost
a very close decision. Both fighters showed great heart and we hope
that Shawn will have us down again, hopefully for a rematch.

to the West Island guys for holding the tournament, well done to all

of the Ronins decided to go to a local tournament in Quebec that was
being held by Monkey's Academy. Ronin MMA once again came out victories
with 3 competitors winning 4 medals!
